Egoli Magic Basketball Club boasts a remarkable track record of success, surpassing most other teams in South African basketball. The Club has secured an impressive five Men’s BNL Championships and one Women’s WBNL Championship.
We have been active participants in various leagues in and around Johannesburg, including the Johannesburg League (JBL) and Inner Super League (ICSL).
The Club has had the privilege of having some of the most well-known players in the country, such as Joseph Mazibuko, Thabang Kgwedi, Sifiso Ncgobo and Lesego Molebatsi, who have not only played for the Club but also represented the National Team. Some international players such as Alaska Kinpundu and Djunga Kasongo have also played for the Club. Additionally, the Club has been graced by top coaches such as José Costa and Flosh Ngwenya, who are rated as the top coaches in South Africa and among the best on the entire continent.
One noteworthy achievement for the Club was the extension of its professional structure to include a women’s team. The team had a stellar start, winning the championship during their first season in the BNL Woman League.
As part of its vision, the Club prioritizes the development and encouragement of youth in South Africa through various initiatives, including health and education programs aimed at keeping children in school and healthy while preventing drug abuse, smoking, obesity, and AIDS.
In addition, the Egoli Magic aims to establish healthy, aspirational, and viable employment opportunities, promote sound corporate governance principles in sport, establish heroes who can positively influence young lives and promote brands, and create potential spin-offs in related music, fashion, and entertainment. With these efforts, Egoli Magic Basketball Club continues to work towards its vision of #PURE MAGIC and expanding throughout Africa and beyond.
